On tonight’s episode of CBS’ Zoo, the team struggle to find a way to expose dead agent Ben Shaffer’s real identity while juggling an investigation in Paris where four bears have been terrorizing the City of Lights.
To quickly refresh your memory, in last week’s episode of Zoo, Jackson revealed to Jamie that agent Shaffer, after having killed the optometrist who examined Evan Lee Hartley, was in search of the mother cell himself. After a struggle with Jackson, Shaffer lunged at Jamie who ultimately shot him.
The team suspect that Shaffer was being paid by Reiden Global to recover the mother cell and is determined to find the evidence that will exonerate Jamie. However, fearing that their mission will be compromised if the authorities trace Shaffer’s death to the team, Delavagne insist that Chloe turn over the agent’s killer; a request she refuses to comply with.
In order to continue their quest for answers under the radar, the team head for Paris after a new passport is made for Jamie under the assumed name Nancy Armstrong. Eager to investigate the bear attacks that have been plaguing the city, Chloe and Jackson find themselves enlisting the help of Chloe’s ex fiancé, Simon Kassianides, an engineer who knows the city well enough to help them track down the bears. They learn that one of the bears has been captured and is laying in a lab. The other three are still unaccounted for.
As Chloe, Abraham, Jackson, and Simon venture underground to look for the three missing bears, Mitch goes to the lab to run some tests on the lone bear. Upon inspection of the bear’s pupil, he is perplexed to find that the pupil is normal and not deviant. However, after the blood work comes back, he realizes that the DNA of the bear is changing. Into what he doesn’t know. But he surmises that the animals possessing the molecules of the mother cell have capabilities that may be rapidly evolving. With the exception that it is happening now and not in the future as it was meant to happen. Knowing ahead of time the gold mine he has in his possession, Mitch, without his team’s knowledge, contacts Clayton Burke, a member of Reiden Global, to set up a deal: the mother cell in exchange for medications for his ailing daughter.
While Mitch is making a deal with the devil, Chloe, Abraham, Simon, and Jackson find themselves face to face with the three “missing” bears in one of the tunnels. The bears try to attack them, managing to injure only Simon, but are quickly subdued by tranquilizer darts shot by both Jackson and Abraham.
If you recall earlier in the season, Chloe revealed to Jackson that her engagement to Simon had ended as a result of his infidelity and her sister’s betrayal. In tonight’s episode of CBS’ Zoo, Chloe gets some closure as her team not only save Simon, but she gives him her “blessing” by telling him to be good to her sister.
Will the team find evidence that Shaffer and Reiden Global were in bed together? What will happen with Mitch’s deal with Burke? For answers to these burning questions, you’ll have to tune in next Tuesday to Zoo on CBS at 9/8c.
